primaniacs’ Sakura Haruno Fragrance Review

primaniacs’ Sakura Haruno Fragrance Review

Hello! I hope you are well. I’m doing GREAT today because my most awaited package finally arrived from Japan: My official primaniacs’ Sakura Haruno fragrance!!

On 6/14/2021 my life changed when the official primaniacs twitter posted this tweet:

Rough google translate aided translation:

[NARUTO Shippuden Fragrance: Sakura Haruno]

It’s the season when cherry blossoms are in full bloom. With fruity, floral notes that beckon the feeling of spring; An elegant, charming fragrance that lures in love.

Sakura, Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi, Iruka, Gaara, and Itachi were the characters chosen for this release. They’ve been up for pre-sale online since June, then on the 13th of this month they soft launched for pre-order in their Ginza store only, eventually being stocked in all their stores on the 19th. They retail for ¥5959 and contain 30ml of fragrance.

primaniacs has been in operations since 2016, created with the thought “I want customers to be more excited [about] their characters.”. Their main store is located in Ginza but their products can be found at certain Animate locations throughout the country, with their latest store opening being at Animate Sapporo on March 31st 2020. They’ve produced fragrances for characters spanning multiple series, with such notable ones as Attack on Titan, Persona 3, 4, and 5, Demon Slayer, Promare, and their latest collection with Sanrio. Some series such as Osomatsu-san and Granblue Fantasy also had shampoo and conditioner products made. There are tutorial articles too on their website, showing how to use an atomizer to create an on-the-go version of your fragrance, and how to make bath bombs utilizing your primaniacs fragrances.

Are these not the coolest designs ever for Iruma-kun?? I love them so much.

I had actually purchased the Sakura fragrance through their online web store and then immediately after realized that shipping liquids internationally is very difficult and Blackship wouldn’t forward it to me. I had to beg for forgiveness and ask for a refund which primaniacs graciously gave me (even though they don’t issue refunds in their policy). Luckily, I ended up finding someone who had previously shipped perfumes overseas and they helped purchase and send it to me!

It came in perfect condition with lots of bubble wrap and even encased in tin foil (likely to keep any liquid from seeping out if it leaked). The box design is very cute (I absolutely LOVE the way primaniacs designs their packaging) and I like the matte material they use for the box. It has a nice, sophisticated feeling to it. When my partner was opening the packaging for me, he actually asked if I had bought Naruto branded cigarettes (could you imagine). Sakura’s product design features a diamond that features a key aspect of her at each point. A cherry blossom silhouette, the ribbon Ino gave her as a child, the Konoha leaf symbol, and the Haruno clan symbol. The edges of the design feature swirling, cloud-like designs that remind me of the clouds in this famous illustration of her:

On their website, primaniacs describes Sakura’s fragrance as so (again in collaboration with google translate):

The powerful scent of galbanum gives off a dignified impression, mixed with fresh strawberry that will make you feel charming.
The soft and sweet scent that gradually spreads is a mixture of dianthus and cherry blossoms. The pink petals gently and deeply envelop you, along with the warmth that comes from amber.
An elegant, charming fragrance that lures in love.

The top notes of this fragrance are bergamot and the aforementioned galbanum and strawberry. There’s middle notes of dianthus (also known as nadeshiko), cherry blossoms, neroli, and jasmine, with musk, amber, and white cedar as the last notes. With one spritz, the cherry blossom scent was overwhelming, comparable to Bath & Body Works’ Japanese Cherry Blossom scent. Now two hours later the scent has faded out considerably with the neroli (honeyed orange) and amber scents being the most prevalent. I’m kinda bummed that the scent mellowed out so much in only two hours, but to be fair it was only one spritz split between my two wrists. I’ll have to try with two or more spritzes another time. The bottle is so much smaller than my other perfumes (Prada Candy Florale and Amo Ferragamo just fyi), I’m going to have to reserve this fragrance for special occasions!

What primaniacs scent would you want to buy? Alternatively, what series would you like to see them collaborate with that they haven’t already? I’m honestly really surprised they haven’t collaborated with My Hero Academia yet. If I ever visit Japan again I plan to visit their flagship store to marvel in all their collaborations!

Do you like these kind of product reviews? Please let me know, I collect a lot of anime merchandise and I’d be happy to share my thoughts on them with you all!

Please take care of yourself and remember to drink water and eat properly! See you next time!
