Music Monday|BTS — Euphoria
Hey BAYOG Fam!~ It’s Monday, so it’s time for some Music Monday posts! Summer officially ends September 22nd. So today’s posts will be the final Music Monday – Summer Edition posts~ For our first post, we have BTS’ “Euphoria”. It’s Jungkook’s solo track from BTS’ LOVE YOURSELF 結 Answer album. I think it’s a great track to close summer with. After all, we’re usually happy and stuck in the euphoria of summer. A part of us wishes to hold on to the fun and not leave it just yet.

I’ll skip the artist’s background info for this one, since we talk about this alot. Y’all know I’m ARMY and BTS trash. Also, I bring up BTS in like every post LMAO. Plus, we have the [Dynamite] post for you to look at if you’d like. Again, “Euphoria” was Jungkook’s solo from BTS’ LOVE YOURSELF 結 ‘Answer. It was written by BTS member RM (Kim Namjoon), “Hitman” Bang (Bang Sihyuk/Bang PD), Supreme Boi, Adora, DJ Swivel, and Candace Nicole Sosa. DJ Swivel was the sole producer of the track. There are actually some [behind the scenes] [videos] where he talks about how he made and worked on the track. Anyway, the track is a future bass track. So it’s another K-Pop x EDM track for ya~ The music video for “Euphoria” was actually released way before the track itself. The MV dropped in April 2018. The song itself was not released until August on the LOVE YOURSELF 結 ‘Answer album.
The song and album are part of BTS’ Love Yourself era, the fourth era in their career. This era included: LOVE YOURSELF 承 Her, LOVE YOURSELF 轉 Tear, LOVE YOURSELF 結 Answer, as well as the Japanese album Face Yourself. This era picks up where the 화양연화/花樣年華 (HYYH/The Most Beautiful Moment In Life) era left, and seems to continue the [BTS universe story] as well. The HYYH era included: 화양연화 Pt.1, 화양연화 Pt. 2, 화양연화: Young Forever, and Wings.

Euphoria : Theme of LOVE YOURSELF 起 Wonder
The music video for the track is actually more of a short film/trailer for the album. Like I said, this was actually released several months before the LOVE YOURSELF 結 Answer album. BTS and Big Hit started the Love Yourself era with 4 highlight reels (basically short films) and 4 trailers. The highlight reel and trailers were each complied of 4 parts: “起,” “承,” “轉,” and “結”. This is based on Kishōtenketsu. It’s a traditional structure of narrative development: introduction, development, twist, and conclusion. You can watch the highlight reel [here].
“Euphoria” was one of the trailers that included 4 tracks from the Love Yourself era albums:

Again, these seem to pick up from where the HYYH era and BTS universe story line left off. It starts off dark. From what I gathered from the previous HYYH era videos as well as BTS’ [Save Me webtoon], Jungkook was struggling mentally. I believe in the original timeline fell off the roof, due to stress and depression. I think he was bullied too? I gotta rewatch and reread these things… Anyway, the “Euphoria” MV seems to show him waking up and having a blast with the BTS members. His utopia. If you have the time and want to watch the “full story” with all the MVs and videos from both eras, you can watch it [here]. It’s honestly is like a whole ass movie. It’s interesting how detailed the BTS universe is though and to see how everything connects. Because there are parallels. So I’d recommend watching it if you have the time. It will definitely help you understand the MV better.
Euphoria (DJ Swivel Forever Mix)
LIVE PERFORMANCE AT WEMBLEY STADIUM
There was a remix called “Euphoria (DJ Swivel Forever Mix)”. It was released as a part of BTS 2019 FESTA. It has a totally different feel from the original version of the track. It’s no longer a future bass or EDM track. This version is softer and sweeter with piano and string instruments. It’s almost got a dreamy feel to it. There’s also a [behind the scenes clip] of Jungkook recording vocals for it as well.
On another note, here’s a live performance of “Euphoria” from BTS’ Wembley concert. Y’all. Kookie is literally just flying in the air, but still singing flawlessly. I would cry cuz I’m scared of heights. But seriously, it’s damn impressive how stable his voice is despite just flying around up high like that. His voice never cracks or anything. It’s just stable and hella smooth vocals. Like if you didn’t watch the video, you would’ve never known he was flying around. WTF dude. I’m mad jelly.
BTS’ Love Yourself era was one of my favorites. It’s one that really got me deep diving into BTS. The message of this era really hit me. Love isn’t just about romantic affection, or even love towards others. Love comes in many forms, and is shown through many different ways. BTS’ LY era reminded me and taught me that I need to love myself. Y’all know I’m perpetually sad girl. I’ve been struggling with myself for a long time. I never really loved myself. Yet, the Love Yourself albums and era really did put things into perspective for me. I learned alot, and I think I improved immensely from it. I just loved all of the albums for the music, lyrics, and message. It really was life changing for me.
Aesthetically, I really liked LOVE YOURSELF 結 Answer. I loved the color scheme. It really fit as the conclusion to LY. LOVE YOURSELF 承 Her was white and bright. It really fit the beginning of love. LOVE YOURSELF 轉 Tear was dark, fitting in with the pain of love. LOVE YOURSELF 結 Answer was the conclusion and it was bright and colorful. It was a perfect symbolization of finding the answer and acceptance of loving yourself. It’s also clever since it’s basically showing that love is a spectrum. Love is made of so many different forms and colors. Like I liked LOVE YOURSELF 結 Answer so much that when my bestie (Loha’s Jess) bought me a new pastel makeup palette, I deadass did a makeup look based on the album. Me and my bestie planned on wearing this look for the Persona Tour, but…ya’know…COVID and all…
“Euphoria” was definitely one of my favorites from this era. I just loved how bright, happy, sweet, and fun it sounded. The lyrics were just beautiful too. Although, I suppose the lyrics can be taken as somewhat dark when you analyze it and think of the BTS universe story and all.
Anyway, this is a really great track. It’s fun, bright, and has Kookie’s smooth, sweet, and amazing vocals. I think it’s a great track for those who like EDM, particularly future bass. I also think it’s a great track for those who are new to BTS or K-Pop. It’s a great closing song for summer since we’re typically stuck in wanting to stay in the euphoria of summer fun. I highly recommend checking out all the albums from the LY era. Stay safe and have a wonderful day, fam!~
