Attack on Titan Season 2 – First Impressions

It’s been 4 long years, Wit Studio finished exploring vampires and zombies, and now we’re finally back to see more of the story within the walls. The hype train was travelling at high speeds after the teasers were released, especially since the Beast Titan shows his face in the trailer. How’s the season looking so far?

Story wise, they’re definitely keeping true to the manga. This current arc gives some backstory to some other members of the 104th. They have compressed a few scenes though, my guess is to save some time to fit everything they want to fit within the 12 episodes they’re getting this season. This probably wouldn’t hinder a viewer’s overall understanding of what’s going on in the end but some of the foreshadowing was not present. If it covers the arcs I think it will cover, we’re in for a good season. Anime only followers will definitely enjoy this season.

Artwork and animation definitely are as good as Wit Studio is used to doing. The action is so smooth and I personally look forward to the rest of the season. The new opening is once again just as catchy as the first two in season one. I find myself humming the opening randomly. The ED is creepy as hell and it didn’t strike me as an English song at first until someone pointed it out to me.

Real talk tho, why are there animals and dinosaurs in the OP?

This season is going to be good. I’ve heard theories from anime only followers and, as a manga reader, it’s so hard to keep a straight face when they’re either spot on or way off from what actually happens. I probably don’t need to tell you to pick this up if you’re already a fan, but for those that aren’t, I highly recommend picking up season one and catching up.
