Music Monday | TWICE — MORE & MORE

Hello my BAYOG luvlies~ Yes, it’s Monday again! So I’m back with another Music Monday post. Sorry, I’ve been meaning to do other posts too…but just haven’t had the time to dedicate to writing those… I promise I do have non-music stuff coming up though! Anyway, I’m gonna just keep it brief and simple today (for real)! I’m still trying to keep to a summer-esque vibe/theme to the Music Monday posts. Today’s track is TWICE’s ‘MORE & MORE’ . I’ve just been in the mood for something more upbeat, and honestly, I was in just the mood for tropical house~

It’s not the first time I’ve done TWICE for a summer Music Monday post. Last time I covered [‘Dance the Night Away’]. I won’t go into the artist background since I already did so in that post~ What I will say is that while ‘Dance the Night Away’ is cute and fun, ‘MORE & MORE’ is definitely more my style~

Anyway, ‘MORE & MORE’ was the lead single from TWICE’s ninth EP of the same name. It dropped June 1, 2020. It was written by Mr. JYP (Park Jin Young) himself as well as BIBI. It was composed by Zara Larsson, Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, and Uzoechi Emenike. JYP is iconic, and you can say he’s one of the innovators and founding fathers of K-Pop as we know it. Y’all also know I love BIBI. I talked about her in my [‘Meu Tempo’ Music Monday post]. I’m actually slow in just having recently learned that she was behind the lyrics with JYP. I found out from watching her and Tiger JK’s appearance on [Jessi’s show]. You can hear her [sing a snippet of it as well]. The lyrics are basically about emotions that are intensifying during a relationship. As for the track itself, it’s a tropical house track with an instrumental chorus. Y’all know I LOVE tropical house. I literally have a [BAYOG playlist] for that as you can remember from my [K-Pop x EDM( Deep House/ Tropical House/Moombahton) playlist post]. It’s just a catchy and fun track that gets you dancing along to it. Again, ‘Dance the Night Away’ was a fun track too. It was more on the cutsey and bright side, and some slightly more like silly and easy-going? But I like do prefer ‘MORE & MORE’. Not just cuz of the tropical house sound and vibes. I also like that it sounds more mature with a different kind of colorful vibe and sound to it. I also just like the different elements in this song more. By the way, there is also an official English version of ‘MORE & MORE’. It was a single that dropped on the same day as the EP.

Like ‘Dance the Night Away’, ‘MORE & MORE’s is upbeat, fun, and colorful. However, it does carry more mature vibes to it than ‘Dance the Night Away’. It’s colorful, and fits that tropical vibe and aesthetic. It also has a bit of a dreamy vibe and look as well. We see alot of colors and patterns too. The majority of the outfits are like colorful bohemian vibes.

The choreo isn’t one of my top favorites, but I do actually like it. It looks like a lot of fun, and pretty doable; Especially the key point. It seems like it’d be a fun workout that’s not too complex. It’s pretty simple movements, just alot of them. That makes it difficult for my goldfish memory brain. Still, it’s a fun dance.

Anyway, that’s it y’all. Everyone in BAYOG are ONCEs (TWICE stans), especially the bros. I also just really love tropical house. So tadaaah. I do have to say this is one of my favorite TWICE songs. I think at the beginning I wasn’t too sure, but the tropical house vibes got me. It’s just super catchy and fun. Anyway, what do you all think? Y’all fans of this track? As an Asian-American, racism, xenophobia, and hate crimes against AAPI isn’t new. It’s always been around. Unfortunately, misinformation and the pandemic has caused an insane surge in racism and xenophobia. There has also been an insane rise in hate crimes. More recently, we’re seeing a surge of hate crimes against the Asian elderly. Particularly in the California and New York areas. Some cases even leading to injuries and even death. The sad thing is that many cases do not get alot of attention, or are just looked passed. It breaks my heart and is cause for concern since it affects our community. Since some of the BAYOG Crew (including myself) are Asian-Americans ourselves, I wanted to use our small platform to help in anyway. Hate, racism, and xenophobia is an ugly thing. We’re friends, in the same community, and against the same social injustices. So be kind and let’s fight these things together.
