Hey BAYOG Fam! I know, I know… May is over. It’s not MHAM any more…. but I still had like 2 of our playlist posts. So due to my poor planning skills, here I am with another MHAM Playlist post!~ Also, awareness and care for mental health isn’t limited to just one month~ It’s something that should always be constant. MHAM PLAYLIST| VOLUME 8

The world and circumstances just seem so cruel and unfair no matter how hard you try. Sometimes you just want to give up and be done with it all. That’s the theme of our “downs” kind of tracks. Y’all know I love ONE OK ROCK. This track just came out the other week, and I instantly loved it. When I first heard it, I instantly felt the lyrics. As I said, sometimes… things feel too tough and painful. It can get to a point where you just feel done with everything. You don’t feel yourself, and you just want to give up. For me, one of the lyrics that really stood out and I felt really hard was “Sometimes I just want to say I love myself, but not today.” It’s just crushing when you’re trying your best, and you want to keep pushing forward. Yet, everything is against you. Eventually, it can take a toll on you and you just feel exhausted and broken at times.

I have another DAY6 track for y’all. This is a song that starts kind of soft and builds up into full on rock. I view it as that when you feel sad and lonely, and at the same time somewhat bitter and angry. It reflects a sense of desperation of wishing to have someone, anyone, there for you. It’s like a frustrated and desperate call. I definitely felt this at times. Sometimes I feel frustrated because I feel unsure if I can reach out to people. So I feel so alone, but desperately wished to have someone to rely on when I feel so frustrated.

Agust D (BTS SUGA)| SO FAR AWAY (Feat. Suran)

This is a track I really, like truly, relate to. It’s an Agust D track. For those of you who don’t know, Agust D is the name Suga of BTS uses for his solo projects. There was a special version for BTS’ MUSTER that included Jin and Jungkook as well. Again, this track reflects the feeling of frustration, disappointment, hopelessness, bitterness, and a bit of anger. This is obviously a track that reflects Suga’s personal feelings and experiences. However, I could really relate to it. It really is a bitch to to have something you want to do. It can make you feel pathetic from others and yourself. To be constantly told “Things will work out if you do what we tell you”, not have it work out, and have the same people constantly ridicule and curse at you. It’s a painful thing that cuts deep into one’s heart and sense of self. One of the lyrics that hit me hard was, “I’m living because I can’t die.” I’ve already talked about my personal struggles and experiences many times. But yeah, there was a period I truly felt that way and lived that way. The pain cuts deeper, and you feel like you’re sinking even deeper when you feel like you’re the only one stuck. There’s alot of pain, loneliness, and frustration. I wanted everything to disappear, and I wanted myself to disappear. I honestly I could relate to every word of the lyrics. Yet, despite the dark and heavy feelings in the lyrics, it also reminds us that there’s hope. Things may seem hard now, but it’s because we’ll surely bloom beautifully. We may not have a dream now, but we can keep dreaming. One day, we’ll look back and remember our humble beginnings, and the struggles we went through to get to where we are.

This track was from the Itaewon Class drama OST. It is probably one of my favorite drama OST tracks. It’s a track that sings of optimism. A new start can seem daunting. However, it’s also thrilling because it’s the opportunity for a new chance and experience. We can start to cross the lines that has been drawn before us, and to prove that we can overcome it. This is a solo track from YUQI of (G)I-DLE. It’s an all English track as well. Again, it’s a track about others trying to put us down. Things may seem against us. OOF. Not gonna lie fam, I struggled with this post. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy it or didn’t want to do it. It’s tough when you’re sleep deprived and burnt out haha. Anyway, I just wanted to say that sadness and depression aren’t the only things we feel at times. People and emotions are complex. There are times it feels like the world is against you. At times you may just feel bitter, frustrated, and angry. It’s okay. Sometimes you feel exhausted and engulfed in the darkness. You might want to just give up. However, remember that you don’t have to run immediately. Everyone is different. We have different paths, methods, and paces. We may stumble and fall, but it’s okay to get back up and keep trying. To give up is like we’re accepting what everyone has said. Remember that there is potential, and the future is not yet certain. We can certainly do our best. At the very least, it’s better say that we’ve tried and given it our all. Lastly, remember that you’re the one who’s affected. It’s your life, not theirs. So the one who’s most important is you. Anyway that’s all y’all. At the very least, I’ll tell you that I love you and believe in you!~ Whether you accomplish it or not, I’m proud of you. I’m happy if you’re happy. AS A GROUP OF BIPOC, BAYOG strongly stands with Black Lives Matter. We are all too familiar with the racism that we, our friends, and family have faced on a daily basis. Every life is precious. STOP ASIAN HATE

As an Asian-American, racism, xenophobia, and hate crimes against AAPI isn’t new. It’s always been around. Unfortunately, misinformation and the pandemic has caused an insane surge in racism and xenophobia. There has also been an insane rise in hate crimes. More recently, we’re seeing a surge of hate crimes against the Asian elderly. Particularly in the California and New York areas. Some cases even leading to injuries and even death. The sad thing is that many cases do not get alot of attention, or are just looked passed. It breaks my heart and is cause for concern since it affects our community. Since some of the BAYOG Crew (including myself) are Asian-Americans ourselves, I wanted to use our small platform to help in anyway. Hate, racism, and xenophobia is an ugly thing. We’re friends, in the same community, and against the same social injustices. So be kind and let’s fight these things together.
