My BAYOG luvsssss~ Our lovely Valentines themed Music Monday posts for February are coming to an end! I honestly originally planned for 2-3 Music Monday posts today, but your girl is le tired. Also, it’s still inconvenient to type with this bandaging on my finger. But I wanted to properly end with at least one final Music Monday post for February~ Again, we’re gonna keep it simple cuz my injury is still ouchies right now… Our final track is “Sweet Love” by Crush (크러쉬). It’s a collab track between Crush and the webtoon 취향저격 그녀 (She is My Type♡)
Y’all know that Crush is one of my favorite K-R&B artists. Definitely one of my favorite artists. Period. When it comes to music and my playlists, I bring him and his songs up alot. He’s basically in all of my playlists~ He’s a talented artist and a complete dork~ Anyway, his real name is Shin Hyo Seob (신효섭). He’s a R&B singer, as well as a rapper. He was inspired to start rapping from Dynamicduo’s debut album Taxi Driver. He kept sending demos to their label Amoeba Culture since when he was in middle school. He became acquainted with some now familiar K-R&B/Hip Hop names like [Gray], [Loco], [Zion.T], and [Elo]. They formed a music crew called VV:D in 2012. He’s also a member of the K-Hip Hop crew [Fanxy Child] alongside [Zico], [Dean], [Penomeco], [Millic], and Staytuned. He’s also part of another K-Hip Hop crew called CLUB ESKIMO. It consists of Crush, Dean, [Rad Museum] (aka Camper), 2XXX!, Millic, [Miso], [punchnello], [offonoff] (consisting of [Colde] and [0channel]), Chek Parren, and Jusen. Crush made his official debut after signing an exclusive contract with Amoeba Culture in 2013. He debuted with [“Sometimes(가끔)”] and his first album Crush On You in 2014. Since then, he’s become well-known as an incredibly talented R&B vocalist and rapper. He’s also worked with several other well known artists such as Dynamicduo, [Taeyeon] of Girls’ Generation, [Yoon Mi Rae] (Tasha), [Lee Hi], [Joy] from Red Velvet, [Sam Kim], [Epik High], [Suran], [DPR Live], and more. He’s also worked with [nov (노브)], who is his sister. He’s also continued working with his friends and crew members. Crush has also done OST contributions such as [“Beautiful”] from [Goblin]. He left Amoeba Culture in 2019 and has since signed to PSY’s P Nation.

Again this track is a collaboration between the manhwa/webtoon 취향저격 그녀 (She is My Type♡) and Crush. Yes, webtoons have OST. The single has 2 tracks: “Sweet Love” and the official instrumental. It starts off soft and sweet before the beat and hip-hop vibes kick in. It’s still a really sweet sounding and upbeat track. It’s simply a very sweet love song about how much he loves this girl and how much he’s falling for her~ It’s sweet, happy, and bright with a nice slight hip-hop kick to it. Crush kills it with his sweet and smooth vocals as usual~ I honestly haven’t read the webtoon yet. Although it has been on my To-Read list even before this track was released. Definitely need to find the time to start it because if it’s anything like Crush’s song, I’ll definitely love it~

STOP ASIAN HATE CRIMES
As an Asian-American, racism and hate crimes against AAPI isn’t new. It’s always been around. Unfortunately, misinformation and the pandemic has caused an insane surge in racism and xenophobia. There has also been an insane rise in hate crimes. More recently, we’re seeing a surge of hate crimes against the Asian elderly. Particularly in the California and New York areas. Some cases even leading to injuries and even death. The sad thing is that many cases do not get alot of attention, or are just looked passed. It breaks my heart and is cause for concern since it affects our community. Since some of the BAYOG Crew (including myself) are Asian-Americans ourselves, I wanted to use our small platform to help in anyway. Hate, racism, and xenophobia is an ugly thing. We’re friends, in the same community, and against the same social injustices. So let’s fight these things together.
