Cute Drama Moments That I Think About Alot~

Hello my BAYOG luvs~ It’s Minty again! Honestly, I had a couple of posts planned out for Valentine’s and February. However, I have bad luck. As y’all remember, I’m had another knife accident less than a week ago. It’s healing nicely. However, yo’ girl got another ouchie. Due to the bizarre record winter storms, my area got alot of ice and icicles everywhere. Long story short, big ol’ icicle suddenly fell on my head and I was bleeding. I’m okies now though. However, I’m trying to take it easy. I’m a bit sad I couldn’t follow the schedule I planned out, but I also don’t want to completely stop blogging. (My anxiety wouldn’t let me heheh) So I opted for a simple and chill post today~ Following our Valentine’s and lovely theme, I figured I’d share some cute drama moments I think about alot~

Cheese In The Trap (KR)

If you’ve been following my posts for a while, you’ll know that I have a love/hate relationship with the K-Drama, [Cheese In The Trap]. I was not a big fan of the main ship. However, I loved the second lead, Baek In Ho (played by Seo Kang Jun). I get hella [second lead syndrome] alot. Baek In Ho was definitely one of my favorite second leads ever. He’s a bad boy/gangster type. He’s rough, and does resort to violence alot. However, I liked that he does try to change and legitimately improve himself. I loved that he genuinely cared about the female lead, Hong Seol. Not just as the girl he was secretly crushing on, but also as a friend. One of my favorite scenes involves when she’s been harassed by her stalker. Not only does he escort her to make sure she’s safe, but he gives her a whole bag full of self-defense items. He also explains how to use every one of them. I think it’s a really sweet gesture of his concern for her safety and well-being. Plus, it’s a really practical thing to do. It’s also sweet how he’s helping her avoid hitting her head on the poles since she’s stressed and absent minded.

A LOVE SO BEAUTIFUL (CH)

I rarely watch Chinese dramas lately. However, A Love So Beautiful was sweet. I recommend it if you’re a fan of [It Started With A Kiss (TW)], [Playful Kiss (KR)], or [Mischievous Kiss: Love In Tokyo (JP)] (**Note: These are all live action adaptations of the same manga, Itzura na Kiss). They’re a bit similar in set up. You can catch this drama on [Netflix] or [Viki]. This clip is another sweet second lead moment. Chen Xiaoxi has been crushing on her neighbor and classmate Jiang Chen foreeeeever. He’s also always coldly rejecting her though…even though he also likes her. Meanwhile, you have the second male lead, Wu Bosong. He’s a national swimmer who’s crushing on Xiaoxi. Xiaoxi is hella down because it seems like the pretty girl in class is getting close to Jiang Chen. It looks like she’s going to lose out. So Bosong decides to cheer her up. He knows she’s been wishing it to snow. So Bosong decides to make her wish come true in order to make her smile. Like this is an incredibly sweet and romantic gesture. My heart is gonna die from second lead syndrome… Oh! On another note, there is a [K-Drama adaptation].

WHAT’S WRONG WITH SECRETARY KIM? (KR)
김비서가 왜 그럴까?

Y’all probably remember that [What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?] is one of my favorite dramas ever. It’s a romantic-comedy based on a manhwa/webtoon. It’s full of cliches, but it’s cute~ I highly recommend checking it out on [Viki]. The whole thing is full of really sweet moments. From how how Young Jun looks at Mi So, to their cute interactions together. I love this silly scene where they’re on an outing and Young Jun is all “Let me take a pic of my girlfriend!~” But he’s being so extra and going all out to take it. Basically a pro photographer boyfriend. It’s silly, but cute to see the how far he’s willing to go~

Her Private Life (KR)

Here’s another cute rom-com based on a manhwa/webtoon~ I definitely recommend checking this one out on [Viki] too. It’s about a woman who lives a double life as a hardcore idol stan. By day, she’s an incredibly professional museum curator. However, she’s secretly a hardcore idol stan who runs a popular idol fan site. Ryan Gold, a famous and standoffish artist who is her new boss, secretly finds out about her hobby. He actually secretly joined the fansite with a fake identity to try to get to know her. It’s cute because he’s not turned off, disgusted, or creeped out by her hobby and enthusiasm. Rather, he finds it really charming. So it’s cute that he wholeheartedly supports her stanning and hobby. Because the truth is, there are cases when people don’t agree and will belittle your hobbies. It’s cute cuz he shows complete support and says he’s going to stan her~ Also, it’s sweet to support someone’s love for something, but extra sweet when you dive in to enjoy it with them. It’s wholesome and sweet~ I love it~

STRONG WOMAN DO BONG SOON (KR)
힘쎈여자 도봉순

I have a love/hate relationship with this drama too lolol Strong Woman Do Bong Soon is actually really cute and funny. I actually do like it, and you can catch it on [Viki] (Netflix in some regions too). Although some characters are a bit… too dumb for me. Admittedly, it can be a bit saccharine for me at times. Still, it’s a cute series with a cute ship. Bong Soon has this super human strength, despite being a tiny, petite, innocent, and frail looking woman. It’s cute to see there’s a bit of gender role reversal with the ship. We mostly see Min Hyuk all frazzled and giddy. Basically things you would typically see from the female characters. It’s refreshing and cute. Anyway, it’s cute to see him flail and all fluttery from Bong Soon’s video message~ Cuz boyyyyy, I relate. I remember being like that after talking to my crushes too lol

STOP ASIAN HATE CRIMES

As an Asian-American, racism and hate crimes against AAPI isn’t new. It’s always been around. Unfortunately, misinformation and the pandemic has caused an insane surge in racism and xenophobia. There has also been an insane rise in hate crimes. More recently, we’re seeing a surge of hate crimes against the Asian elderly. Particularly in the California and New York areas. Some cases even leading to injuries and even death. The sad thing is that many cases do not get alot of attention, or are just looked passed. It breaks my heart and is cause for concern since it affects our community. Since some of the BAYOG Crew (including myself) are Asian-Americans ourselves, I wanted to use our small platform to help in anyway. Hate, racism, and xenophobia is an ugly thing. We’re friends, in the same community, and against the same social injustices. So let’s fight these things together.
