Music Monday|Taeyeon — Galaxy

Hello my BAYOG luvs!~ I got a second Music Monday post for you today! Again, we’re going with our lovely and sweet love songs theme for Valentines~ Today’s second track is “Galaxy” by Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation~ I’ve absolutely been in love with this track since I first heard it when the EP dropped in December. I’ve literally been saving this Music Monday post for February haha~

We’ve already covered Taeyeon [before]. She’s a second generation K-Pop idol, and member of the legendary K-Pop girl group Girls’ Generation/소녀시대 (SNSD). She has a very recognizable voice, and has been recognized as one of the best female vocalists in K-Pop. Her voice is super versatile, fitting upbeat K-Pop dance tracks, ballads, R&B tracks, and more. She made her debut with Girls’ Generation in 2007, but is still popular and recognized today. She’s collaborated with several other well known artists as well, such as: [Crush], [Dean], [Jonghyun of SHINee] [Lee Seung Chul], [Verbal Jint], [Chancellor], and [Chan Mina].

“Galaxy” is the fifth track on Taeyeon’s fourth solo EP, What Do I Call You. The EP dropped on December 15, 2020. While the track title “What Do I Call You” is a great track, “Galaxy” was the one that I liked most and immediately after I first listened to the EP. It’s a sweet and dreamy sounding ballad. I just loved how it started with a simple acoustic guitar and Taeyeon’s vocals before more is added to the instrumental around the chorus. It’s just a really beautiful song that sounds so sweet and soothing too~

Lyrics

I find the lyrics to be pretty sweet~ I can basically imagine it’s about laying in bed and waiting for the person you love. Feeling at peace that they’re next to you, and realizing what their existence means to you. There’s a point where their warmth, voice, and the time spent with them becomes familiar. Everything just seems like a good dream, and you realize that this person has become your world, your galaxy.
