Music Monday|V(BTS) — Snow Flower (Feat. Peakboy)

Haaaaaalllooooo BAYOG Fam~ Again, HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope your new year has been off to a fantastic start! So confession… my perception of time has been pretty messed up this week. I think I was just totally thrown off by the holidays, but I only just realized it’s already time for another Music Monday post. It also doesn’t help that I’m tired as hell. Like, I thought Saturday was Wednesday and woke up and started work 2 hours early… Anyway, I’m just going to breeze through today fam. Please have mercy on me… Yo’ girl is both physically and mentally exhausted… Anyway, today’s featured track for the winter vibes edition of Music Monday is “Snow Flower” by BTS’ V (Kim Taehyung) and featuring Peakboy.

Y’all already know I’m [BTS trash]. Yes, I am BTS ARMY (as is Loha). I bring up BTS alot in my posts, and I’ve featured their music for Music Monday too. So I won’t go too much into background. You can go read some of my previous posts like the [Music Monday post on BTS’ Lights]. Officially, my biases are Kim Namjoon (RM) and Kim Taehyung (V). But let’s be honest, having a bias is a lie. There’s no such thing as a bias cuz everyone is a bias wrecker… Anyway, like I found out BTS and was curious because my friend Namjoon fan and runs a fansite. So I got into BTS from that. Tae is such a 4D kind of dude though. Dude be good looking, fashionable, sweet, childish, and a dork. He’s seems like a fun friend. So he was one of the other reasons I [unwittingly fell into the BTS K-Pop hole] despite resisting it for like 2-3 years.

“Snow Flower” is a special track by V (Kim Taehyung) of BTS. It was dropped on December 24, 2020 as a surprise Christmas gift to ARMY (BTS’ fandom)~ It was also due to Tae feeling bad about the delay of his solo mixtape. It was dropped the day after Jimin also dropped a surprise Christmas track, [Christmas Love]. Unfortunately, both tracks aren’t official tracks. So you won’t find them on streaming services. They’re only available on YouTube and BTS’ [SoundCloud]. Both tracks are good, but I’m sharing Tae’s track because it was more of my personal taste~ Plus, Tae my bias (even though having a bias in BTS is a lie because everyone is a damn bias wrecker) lolol “Snow Flower” features Peakboy, who raps on the track. Not much is known about Peakboy, but he basically raps and sings R&B type of tracks. He also seems to be a part of Tae’s crew of friends with actor [Park Seo Joon]. I actually did know about Peakboy and enjoyed his music before “Snow Flower” was dropped. I really love his track called [Diet], which features Mamamoo’s Whee In. This track has a sweet winter vibe with a retro 50s-60s kinda of jazz sound and feel. It’s got a bit of this soft and dreamy vibe to it. I gotta say that when I heard this track, I thought it was a totally Tae kind of track. Because I think it’s pretty clear that Tae loves retro kinds of sounds, music, and styles. As for the lyrics, it’s honestly super sweet, but we’ll get there in a bit~

Again, the lyrics are honestly so incredibly sweet and romantic. MY HEARTTTT~ It’s a really cute song~ Also I should note there that in Korean “snowflake” is 눈꽃(nunkkeot). However 눈(nun) alone means “snow”, while 꽃(kkeot) by itself means “flower”. So that can explain the title as well as the “white flowers” that Tae is singing about. However, “snow flower” can also refer to the common name of crocuses or snow crocuses. They’re small flowers that typically grow in the cold, as well as blooms in the snow. It’s said that it’s actually one of the first signs of spring as well. This reference also makes sense since there appears to be a crocus in the album art~ Another thing is that there is a reference to BTS’ [Blue & Grey] from their recent [BE album]. That track was originally meant to be a track for Tae’s solo mixtape. You can hear a bit of the original from their show [In The SOOP].
