Happy Valentine’s Day — Sweet Recommendations
Hihi BAYOG Fam!~ I apologize for being slow with these posts. Your girl was hella overwhelmed with a crazy work week and tryin’ to get tix to BTS (Yes, I got them. Yes, your favorite hella basic Asian chick is off to do her hella basic fangirl shit). I suppose you can say I’ve also been feeling a bit of burn out. Still, I wanted to blog something. Although, I’ve noticed there hasn’t been anything other than the Rewind posts lately. So I thought I’d take a break and do something different today~ It’s Valentines Day y’all. So I’m here to do a Valentines Day post for you~

Yes. It’s Valentines Day. A day that celebrates love. Or if you’re cynical, a marketing scam that profits off the idea of love. Whatever floats your boat fam. Anyway, you may remember I once did a post on how to make [namachoco] for Valentines Day. I recommend checking that out…since we’re in the season and all. Give it to someone you care about, or yourself. Cuz ya’know…it’s good to love yourself. Either way…chocolates are yummy.

For this year’s Valentines Day post I just wanted to do something simple. So I thought I’d make a list of cute romance series that I like; Be it a drama, movie, or manga/webtoon. It could be something cute to watch with your Valentine. Or perhaps you’re forever alone like me. I may be 모태솔로 or forever alone, but that doesn’t bother me. I’m not bitter/salty about that, nor do I have anything against love. I still enjoy a good love story. Honestly, I’m actually a bit of a romantic (if you couldn’t tell from all the dramas I watch). Experiencing love isn’t on my priority list, but I do enjoy seeing a good love story. I love the sweet, adorkable, and moving moments. I love when you get really invested in the characters and their relationship.

Although, K-dramas make me set my bar too high. I’ll admit, dramas can make me low-key jelly. Still, I’m happy to see a wonderful love story unfold. It’s fun to ship couples, and even better to see your ship sail~ Either way, it’s fun~ So leggoooo~

Refusing to back down and intent on meeting with Wang Yeo, Kim Shin’s men and the some villagers are shot and killed by the palace guards. After reaching Wang Yeo, Kim Shin is told that more people will die if he takes another step towards the King. The Queen tells him not to worry about her and to press on. She’s mistreated by her cousins and aunt who don’t care for her and only want the fortune Eun-Tak’s mother left behind. She’s also mistreated by classmates and is a loner. Despite her misfortunes, she has a rather bright and positive personality. Her life starts to change not only after meeting Kim Shin. Her life changes more as she also meets the Grim Reaper and Sunny.

Y’all already know that this is my top [favorite drama] [ever]. The characters are all enjoyable. The chemistry between the characters is amazing too. You can’t help but love both couples and want to root for them. It’s a sweet, cute, and pure love story. Yeah, I know. 18 year old girl plus a 900 year old goblin/god. IT’S STILL AN INNOCENT AND PURE LOVE STORY, DAMMIT. Still, real talk. I love that it has some really pure and sweet moments. I love that this story is about them growing, and how their relationship grows and matures as well.

The main couple and their chemistry was good, but so was the Sunny x Reaper ship. It’s a seriously grand and epic love story with twists and turns. You can’t help but hang onto every moment. Also, every moment for both couples got me fangirl squeeling. The thing I really loved though is that while it is a pure and innocent love story, it’s also pretty mature at times. A good level of pure and innocent, but it doesn’t feel childish. It’s sweet and fun, but not too much or too cringey. I think that’s what helped me grow fond of the story and the ships. It’s just super romantic, full of sweet moments, comedy, beautiful quotes, and gorgeous cinematography.
[DRAMA] 김비서가 왜 그럴까 |What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?

Synopsis:
Lee Young Joon is a perfect man. He’s chaebol (from a rich and successful family) whose family runs a large and successful company. Young Joon is not only rich, but he’s incredibly handsome and intelligent. It’s no wonder that he’s the vice president who makes sure that everything is run in tip top shape. His only flaw is that he can be incredibly arrogant and narcissistic. He’s a tough boss who accepts only perfection and hates incompetence. The only one who can handle him is his secretary. Having working by his side for 9 years, Kim Mi So is the only one who can handle him. She’s perfect for him, but she suddenly announces that she’d like to quit. Young Joon can’t understand why Mi So wants to leave, nor does he want her to leave. He comes to the conclusion that she must have feelings for him; Afterall, he is the perfect man. He tries everything he can to get to stay. Does Young Joon really just not want to lose his perfect secretary, or perhaps there’s something more?
UGH. This drama. This was probably one of my favorite latest dramas. I talked about this drama [before]. It’s actually based on a webtoon. This drama is a wonderfully light-hearted romantic-comedy. It’s so bright and sweet. Again, while it has plenty of cute, fluffy, and sweet moments…I like that it doesn’t feel overly childish to me. It had two characters who were basically around 30. Still, their love and relationship was super sweet and innocent. Still, it didn’t feel something that seemed super out of character to me. That’s basically my age and I know alot of people like that (if not a little more extra than that). Seriously, this drama had me and my friends hella jelly. It was basically relationship goals. First off, it stars Park Min Young and Park Seo Joon. Incredibly beautiful and talented people. Secondly, HOT DAMN. Have you seen their chemistry?? You would be shipping the couple hella hard. However, it wasn’t just that. Their chemistry was so good that you wanted to ship them IRL too.

A nice bonus was the supporting characters couple, Secretary Bong and Secretary Yang. They were hellaaaaaaa extra. Sometimes Secretary Bong was a little too extra and cringey. However, the moments between this couple was actually super sweet. They were hilarious, but they had alot of cute moments. You couldn’t help but be like, “I allow this ship.”
[DRAMA] 어쩌다 발견한 하루 |Extra-Ordinary You

Synopsis (Viki):
Eun Dan Oh, a high school girl who is the only child from a rich family, has congenital heart disease. One day, she wonders why her memory keeps disappearing. She finally realizes that she is a character in the cartoon, and decides to find her real life and love. Meanwhile, a character that doesn’t even have its name, Seuli High Shool’s Student Number 13, lives like a background of the other characters, but his life slowly changes after meeting Dan Oh. They begin their mysterious adventure to find out the secret of the romance cartoon world, and they try to get their independent lives back.
This drama is actually the live action adaptation of a webtoon called, 어쩌다 발견한 7월/July Found By Chance. I briefly mentioned this drama in my [update post] about what I was reading and watching. As I’ve gotten older, I have a harder time watching dramas in a high school setting. I think it’s just because I’m older and it’s harder for me to connect to those kinds of stories now. Still, I started this drama on a whim. The ratings seemed good and it was a pro that the episodes were 30 minutes each. Holy crap was I surprised. This was actually a really good series. It’s basically a romantic comedy with some mystery to it. It’s actually pretty hilarious. The story is pretty unique and interesting too. I actually ended up loving the main character. She’s a bit extra, but I love that she’s kind of fiesty. I love her comments on cringey/cheesey stuff. It’s like, “YO. YOU COULD BE A PART OF K-DRAMA CIRCLE!” The main guy was also incredibly sweet. I really loved those moments between Dan Oh and the main guy. It was so sweet. Me and my K-Drama friend was like, “YO. I want someone like that!” Seriously. I think the most touching line was something like, “She may be a side character to you. But she’ll always be the main character to me.”
[WEBTOON] Kind of Love

This [webtoon series] from LINE Webtoons is actually a collection of short stories by different authors and artists. I really love that it covers the different aspects and different types of love. Some are incredibly sweet, some are pretty bitter-sweet, some are heartwarming, and some are heartbreaking. I really recommend it. My favorite has to be [“Memory”]. Y’all who knew one of the greatest love stories of all time would be that of a knock off roomba and Alexa. No, you read that right. I’m dead serious. Who knew you could feel so emotional over two appliances LOL

[ANIME/MANGA] 俺物語!!|My Love Story!!

Synopsis (My Anime List):
With his muscular build and tall stature, Takeo Gouda is not exactly your average high school freshman. However, behind his intimidating appearance hides a heart of gold, and he is considered a hero by the boys for his courage and chivalry. Unfortunately, these traits do not help much with his love life. As if his looks are not enough to scare the opposite sex away, Takeo’s cool and handsome best friend and constant companion Makoto Sunakawa easily steals the hearts of the female students—including every girl Takeo has ever liked.
When Takeo gallantly saves cute and angelic Rinko Yamato from being molested, he falls in love with her instantly, but suspects that she might be interested in Sunakawa. With his own love for Yamato continuing to bloom, Takeo unselfishly decides to act as her cupid, even as he yearns for his own love story.

This was one of my favorite series. I absolutely loved the manga. I was hella thrilled when the anime came out. Although I was a bit sad about the live action movie. Anyway, I love the unconventional pairing in this series. It what makes it so unique and endearing. I love how they don’t give into other people’s standards on who you should love. I love how they just love and care for each other whole heartedly. It’s really sweet and pure. Just, ugh. I love it. Also, the OST was great. I absolutely loved the ending by Local Connect.
[ANIME/MANGA] 君に届け |Reaching You

Synopsis (My Anime List):
Kuronuma Sawako is completely misunderstood by her classmates. Her timid and sweet demeanor is often mistaken for malicious behavior. This is due to her resemblance to the ghost girl from “The Ring,” which has led her peers to give her the nickname Sadako. Longing to make friends and live a normal life, she is naturally drawn to Kazehaya Shouta, the most popular guy in class, whose “100% refreshing” personality earns him great admiration from Sawako. So when Kazehaya starts talking to her, maybe there is hope for the friendships Sawako has always longed for. Maybe… there is even a little hope for some romance in her future.

OH!~ This was another manga and anime series I really loved. Again, I loved the manga and was so stoked for the anime. I loved it alot. Like My Love Story!!, I was a little disappointed by the live action movie though. Still, I really loved the characters and the series. Sawako is a cute little cinnamon roll. Also, I could relate to her because my personality then was pretty similar to hers. The story is just so innocent and sweet. I love seeing how the characters all grew, especially Sawako. The OST was also awesome! I absolutely loved the first opening~
Yeah. I’m a sucker for cute, innocent, pure, fluffy romance series. There’s actually so many more wonderful series and movies.
