2010’s Rewind|Dramas from 2015

I know I’ve been slow at posting…but I’d really like to thank y’all again for your patience and understanding~
Anyways, today we’ll be continuing on with our 2010’s Rewind! Focusing on dramas from 2015,of course. As always, everything I write is just my opinions and observations. Also again, I know there are many hella big drama titles. However, I’ve only talked about dramas titles I’ve actually watched and left some sort of impression on me~ Also, there may be some spoilers. With that being said, let’s continue this rewind fam!
그녀는 예뻤다 | She Was Pretty (KR)
OOF. The second lead syndrome was strong with this one. To be honest, I had this on my list because of K-Drama Circle. However, I never got around to watching it until a few months ago LOL I was like Park Seo Joon and Super Junior’s Choi Siwon? OKIES! Like, y’all should know that I love Park Seo Joon. Especially after [What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?]. Y’all know I’ve been K-Pop trash since like 2001-2003. Siwon was one of my favorite members from Super Junior too. So you know I was all for that. Two really cute Korean dudes? Yah. I see why K-Drama Circle was very adamant about it. I also remember Hwang Jung Eum from the old variety show, Love Letter. Yeah, again…I’ve been in the Korean media black hole for ages.

As a young girl, Hye Jin was impossibly cute and had a comfortable life with her wealthy parents but since her teens, her looks and fortune changed abruptly and now she is living with her friend rent-free and working as a part-time clerk at a convenience store. One day, her childhood first love, Sung Joon, contacts her wishing to meet her, but recognizing Sung Joon has grown into a handsome and fit man, she quickly hatches a plan to have her pretty friend meet him in her place instead. After luckily landing a full-time job, Hye Jin is surprised to find Sung Joon as her boss, who is adding insult to injury, treating her with disdain and contempt.
I randomly started this a few months ago since I had nothing to watch, since I was caught up on my current dramas at the time. It was alot cuter than I anticipated. Surprisingly, my mom and grandma got hella invested in it. They would walk by as I put it on, sit, and just get totally immersed. They don’t even normally like K-dramas LMAO. Park Seo Joon is stunning as usual. However, I found myself really wanting to root for Siwon’s character. Ugh. I had second lead syndrome hella bad. It was to the point I think I literally said to my mom and grandma, “If she doesn’t want him, I’ll take him!!! Q~Q” Even my grandma felt for him LOLOL
He was top tier second lead. Like he’s handsome and he has abs…however, I loved his quirkiness and personality. I really loved how he just enjoyed being around the female lead, and not caring about her looks. I loved how he liked her because he enjoyed being around her. He was goofy, but he was super caring and sweet. Ugh. *cries*
오 나의 귀신님 | Oh My Ghost/Oh My Ghostess (KR)
So I remember being interested in this because of Park Bo Young and Kim Seulgi. I’ve loved Park Bo Young since Scandal Makers and A Werewolf Boy. She’s like cute/pretty, great at acting, and sings really well. Even though it was a minor character, I also loved Kim Seulgi’s character in [Flower Boy Next Door]. Also, y’all know I like rom-coms and I like supernatural stuff. So it seemed like a win. It was fun and cute. It had it’s flaws at times, but I enjoyed it.

Bong Sun, a timid young woman, is possessed by the ghost of a lustful virgin. She has zero self-confidence, and because of her extreme shyness, she doesn’t have any close friends. At the restaurant where she works as an assistant, she’s not particularly good at anything, and mostly just gets yelled at a lot. Her grandmother was a shaman so from a young age she’s been able to occasionally see ghosts, though it’s not until she meets the lascivious ghost that she gets possessed totally. Sun Woo is a conceited star chef who’s overflowing with confidence in his food and his skills. Bong Sun harbours a secret crush on him, though he doesn’t take much notice of her for two reasons: because he’s always surrounded by women and because he’s hung up on an old flame. But then one day, Bong Sun starts acting differently, shedding her mousy personality, and ends up constantly on Sun Woo’s mind.
There’s even a [Thai remake] of this too…cuz for years, Thailand has been on a trend of remaking all the Korean dramas and variety shows. It was alright. I think I liked the Korean version better. My mom and gran
dma enjoyed it though. We just binged watched it on a slow day at work. Anways, yeah…the drama wasn’t perfect. However, it had cute and funny rom-com moments. There was also this mystery/thriller aspect too. Overall, it was still pretty enjoyable. Especially, because I’m someone who does love food and cooking too. Although, one of the major down sides…this drama made me hungry all the time LOL Because they’re chefs and it takes place in a restaurant for the most part. Yeah…not a good idea to watch at night. I was craving pasta at 3am.
On a random note…there is one thing about this drama that’s always bothered me…and will forever bother me. There’s a scene with an obnoxious blogger/influencer at the restaurant. Lady is too busy setting up her cameras and taking pictures of the food. Of course the food gets cold, and she demands it get heated up. Even though the texture and flavors would change…because food at a nice restaurant like that is meant to be eaten right away. The dumb lady doesn’t give a shit about her brat running around the restaurant. He crashes into the female lead, causing her to spill the hot food (I think there was liquids too) oh herself. The kid was fine but started crying. The mom then acts like a bitchy and entitled Karen getting mad at the girl. I’m mad cuz she was unapologetic, accepted no responsibility, lied, pressed charges against them, and got away with it. Bruh. I live/work the restaurant life. this hit close to home. So I’ll forever be mad she didn’t get karma.
오 마이 비너스 | Oh My Venus (KR)
Wow. This drama. Okay. Let me be honest. I wasn’t a total fan of this drama. I just couldn’t really like the main female lead. Shim Min Ah is pretty and I know she can be a great actress. However, for the most part I was annoyed as hell by her character. Still she had cute moments with So Ji Sub’s character. The secondary leads were trashy people IMO. I think people who cheat are awful, especially those who are unapologetic and gaslight their significant other. I really didn’t care for them at all. However, I only started it because of So Ji Sub. Because that dude is an amazing actor, he’s fiiine, and his character was adorable. Like my friends and I like to joke about how sometimes the male leads set (impossible?) standards of the perfect boyfriend material and goals. So take notes fellas. Despite not really loving all the characters and the story line, there were still great moments in this drama. Plus this drama was memorable because I’m pretty sure it was the official start of my K-Drama Circle. We’d tune in every week and live message each other while watching the episodes. Then we’d fangirl over So Ji Sub, Henry, and Sung Hoon. We also bonded as we trash talked the things we hated, things we were like WTF about, and the plot holes. There are quite a few plot holes here.

Even though he comes from a wealthy family background, he suffered a devastating injury during his childhood days. Now, he overcomes his problems with living a healthy lifestyle. Kang Joo Eun is a 33-year-old lawyer who was once the beauty of her school, nicknamed “Daegu’s Venus”. Over the years she has become overweight and unhealthy. She gets dumped by her boyfriend of 15 years. Kang Joo Eun meets Kim Yeong Ho, who agrees to be her personal trainer to help her get healthier. As they work on her physical transformation, they both discover they have feelings for each other. As they grow closer, they heal each other’s emotional wounds and fall in love.
Again, if I were to be honest…I didn’t care for the main female lead very much. Well..I actually loved So Ji Sub’s character. I was mostly incredibly frustrated and annoyed by Shim Min Ah’s character. However, this drama did a good job with the couple moments. It was cringey/cheesey AF at times. However, it was also just so adorable. It’s just nice to see people really love each other. It made a girl hella jealous for sure.
However, the main reason why I always tuned in every week to watch this drama was because of the trio: So Ji Sub, Henry Lau, and Sung Hoon. Their bromance was hella cute. Also, bruh…they cute AF and hilarious AF. Also, boyfriend material LOL Especially, So Ji Sub’s character. He’s adorable AF. Henry’s and Sun Hoon’s characters are just so precious. Like….ughhh~~~
I’ll end this blurb on Oh My Venus with two things:
1) Band aids are not romantic. Especially used ones! That’s just gross! WHO THE FUCK KEEPS OLD -USED- BANDAIDS AND GETS SENTIMENTAL OVER THAT??? For reals though, that’s just gross and unsanitary.
2) WHO THE FUCK IS ANNA SUE???!! AND WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED??? This is like the greatest unanswered K-Drama questions that I still think about…
素敵な選TAXI | Time Taxi (JP)
I admit I actually never finished this series. I started it when I noticed that CrunchyRoll had a drama section. To be honest, the selection was pretty sparse. However, this series caught my eye. I was intrigued by the idea of being able to go back in time to change a major turning point. I think another reason why it caught my eye was that in a way, it reminded me of a 2009 J-drama called リセット /Reset. Sans the horror aspect though. I liked that this drama was more light-hearted and funny.

Edawakare (Yutaka Takenouchi) is a driver of the amazing Time Taxi, a vehicle that can take its customers back to any point in their lives. As long as they can pay the fare, Edawakare is happy to take them back to a “turning point” in their past, where a wrong choice led to a major failure. However, trying to course-correct the second time around can bring about unexpected happenings and new truths coming to light, so there’s no guarantee of the desired outcome. Ultimately, what will each person choose to do? Every episode is a complete tale filled with thrills and laughs as lucky riders are given the chance to redo part of their lives.
Honestly, I’m not even sure why I didn’t continue this drama. It’s not like I dropped it…but rather I just forgot to continue it lol I’d say it’s most likely that I got caught up in some K-Dramas and shit talking in K-Drama Circle. Although, I’ll probably pick it up again since it’s on Viki~
