What Anime I’m Most Excited to Watch in Summer 2019

It’s safe to say that 2019 is a great year in anime and we are only about halfway through it. With Anime like My Hero Academia, Sword Art Online and Psycho-Pass coming in fall, it’s only going to get better from here. With the season drawing near its end, I thought now would be the best time to share some of the anime that I’m most excited to see next season. Before we jump in I do want to thank you guys for taking the time to read this and ask you to share what anime you are most excited to watch during the Summer season, down in the comments. Alright, let’s jump right in!

This has been a series that I’ve been reading for a few months now. It’s a series written by the writer of Eyeshield 21, Riichiro Inagaki, and drawn by the creator and artist of Sun Ken Rock, Boichi. This is a Shonen Jump title that has been doing fairly well in the rankings. It’s a very different kind of Shonen story that’s found a way to educate its readers on all kinds of science. The best way to explain it is, you will watch a young man bring about all the innovation that humans have done to get us to this point.

This series will be animated by TMS Entertainment and after seeing what they’ve done with Megalobox, I can’t see them doing anything wrong, with this adaption. I’m just happy to see more and more Shonen titles go to a variety of studios versus just going to Studio Pierrot and J.C. Staff.

Make sure to check this out on Crunchyroll and if you are going to Anime Expo, they will also be premiering there!

Fire Force

Year 198 of the Solar Era in Tokyo, special fire brigades are fighting against a phenomenon called spontaneous human combustion where humans beings are turned into living infernos called “Infernals.” While the Infernals are first generation cases of spontaneous human combustion, later generations possess the ability to manipulate flames while retaining human form. Shinra Kusakabe, a youth who gained the nickname Devil’s Footprints for his ability to ignite his feet at will, joins the Special Fire Force Company 8 which composes of other flames users as they work to extinguish any Infernals they encounter. As a faction that is creating Infernals appears, Shira begins to uncover the truth behind a mysterious fire that caused the death of his family twelve years ago.

The first trailer, alone, blew me away. It gave me a ton of Blue Exorcist vibes and the art was just so different than anything we’ve seen recently. Then I did some digging and learned who’s behind it. The manga was created by Atsushi Ookubo the mangaka of Soul Eater. It started to make a lot more sense to me why the art style looked the way it did.

When I was talking about Dr. STONE, one thing I mentioned was how it’s great to see more anime studios pick up these shonen series. Welp, David Productions, YUP JoJo’s animation studio, is behind bringing this anime to life. I’m super excited to see more of this series without being spoiled by all the damn trailers that have been released.

How Many Kilograms are the Dumbbells You Lift?

Hibiki enjoys the finer things in life, and when it comes to food, she’s downright indulgent. When it becomes clear she’s getting chubby, she decides to better herself by joining a gym. In her attempt to find a casual gym, she meets Akemi – a comrade-in-arms. Little does Hibiki know, Akemi has an ulterior motive. What will this wonderful world of fitness have in store for Hibiki?

Alright, this may be kind of a surprise to most of the people reading this but I’m beyond hyped for this anime to start! The anime is about weightlifting, something I’ve been doing for almost a year and have found myself very interested in. It’s not just for someone who’s been weight lifting but great for people who are new to the gym and just want to get started. The best way to look at this series is, it’s a sports anime *cough* with you cute girls *cough* that teaches you everything you need to know about the sport.

I read a tiny bit of the manga to see if it would be something I could get into but then watched as I got through the first two volumes worth of content in no time. It was a fast page turner that gave me lots of passive knowledge about the lifts, their target muscle groups and form. PLUS, it’s very funny. So what do you have to lose? Weight for it… hehe. See what I did there?

Also, if you are into the anime “New Game”, some of the people who worked on that project will be behind bringing this one to life.

What else should I watch?

With this next season starting, I’m probably going to try and binge watch shows like “Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon” and “Teasing Master Takagi-San” to catch up for their sequels. I’d love to hear any other suggestions for shows that you think I would like. Still on break from school and I have too much free time now.

Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend and I’ll have some more posts next week!
